About Our Class Names
Our Year 3 classes are named after famous scientists, Mary Anning and David Attenborough.
Mary Anning was a palaeontologist who was born in Britain in 1799. She collected fossils with her father and found the first Ichthyosaurus when she was 12 years old. She also found the first complete skeleton of a Plesiosaurus when she was 24. Other scientists at the time did not recognise her work as she was a woman, although her work is now on display in the Natural History Museum.
David Attenborough is a biologist who was born in Britain in 1926. He is a natural historian, broadcaster and environmental and wildlife activist, who believes in protecting the natural world. In 2023 he was voted as the UK's favourite TV presenter of all time.
