The School Day - Lunch & Uniform

School Hours

The school opens its gates at 8:45 and parents and children are welcome in school after this. Children should arrive in school by 8:50 ready for registration at 8:55.

School Lunches and Free School Meals

School Lunches

Your child may have either a cooked meal prepared by ABM Catering or a packed lunch provided by you. Children in years Reception to 2 are entitled to Universal free school meals (UIFSM) from year 3 the cost of a school dinner is £2.35 per day.

School dinners must be paid for in advance, weekly or termly either online through Schools Cash office or in the school office by cash or cheque in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child's name and the days that they require a school lunch.

Free School Meals

Some children are entitled to free school meals, it is important to register for free school meals even if your child prefers packed lunches. If you think you might be eligible, please call Central Bedfordshire Council on 0300 300 8306.

Packed Lunches

Packed lunches should be brought in a clearly marked box. Drinks may be brought in unbreakable containers - no cans please.

Sweets, crisps, biscuits etc. are not allowed in school for consumption at playtime, however, fruit or vegetables in a named bag are acceptable and encouraged.

Uniform & PE Kit  

Compulsory daily uniform items
Grey trousers / shorts / skirts / pinafores  
Grey socks (for boys and girls) or tights  
Red school V-neck jumper or cardigan or red sweatshirt all with DILS logo (available from BEST LOOK)  
KS2 - White button shirt with school tie for Y3 and Y4  
Nursery to Y2 white button shirt with tie or white polo shirt (available from BEST LOOK with DILS logo)  
Black school shoes (not trainer style or boots)  
DILS logo school bookbag (available from BEST LOOK)  


Red checked school summer dress for girls (to be worn only after Easter break until October half term break)  


PE Kit for boys & girls
Black plain coloured PE shorts (no other colours or logos)  
Black plain coloured jogging bottoms for colder weather (no other colours, patterns or logos)    
Round-neck T-shirt in house colour  Red sweatshirt with DILS logo (available from BEST LOOK)  
Training shoes with velcro fastening (unless your child can tie their own laces)
Red DILS logo PE bag for year 4 only

Shoes for normal school wear should be flat and black. In the Summer Term, flat sensible sandals are acceptable, however these should not be open toed.

Lunchtime Clubs

A different lunchtime club takes place every day. The club of the day is placed on the door of the entrance to the school.
